Compatriots take part in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
A number of events dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War were organized in St. Petersburg on May 6-10. 107 compatriots who arrived from 24 countries (Abkhazia, Austria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belorus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Denmark, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, USA, Tadjikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Czech Republic, France and Estonia) took part in them along with citizens of St. Petersburg.
Guests from abroad - war veterans, residents of Leningrad during the blockade and guests of honour - met students of D.D.Shostakovitch school No. 235 (St. Petersburg, 48 Kazanskaya Street); attended a concert at the Ice Palace (St. Petersburg, 1 Pyatiletok prospect) and the 4th international patriotic song contest "For the Great Glory of Motherland" at the Octyabrsky Big Concert Hall (St. Petersburg, 6 Ligovsky prospect); laid wreaths at the Memorial Piskarev Cemetery during the mourning ceremony (St. Petersburg, 74 Nepokorennikh prospect); participated in an official reception organized by the St. Petersburg Government in honour of the 65th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 (St. Petersburg, 57 Nevsky prospect, Corinthia Hotel); took part in the Victory Parade on Palace Square and in the Ceremonial Parade on Nevsky prospect. Guests were also offered a bus tour.
The St. Petersburg Foreign Relations Committee initiated and supported visit of compatriots to St. Petersburg. All events were also sponsored by the Government of St. Petersburg, RESTEK ® EVENTS company and the St. Petersburg House of Nationalities.
