Gala concert timed to the 300 years anniversary of the Armenian community in St.Petersburg
On the 20th of June during celebration of 300 years of the Armenian community in St.Petersburg a gala concert took place in the St.Petersburg Academic Philharmonic Hall named after A.A. Shostakovich. The State Hermitage Orchestra performed classical compositions by Tchaikovskiy, Rakhmaninov, some pieces of famous Armenian composers: Khachaturian, Arutunian, Ekmalian, pieces of soviet and foreign composers: Smelkov, Rodrigo, Glier, and Armenian folk songs.
There were 1500 people among the audience.
Two organizations initiated this Gala concert in St. Petersburg: the Regional Armenian National and cultural St.Petersburg autonomy "Armenian national centre - Armenia" and The General Consulate of Armenia Republic in St. Petersburg.
Concert was held with the assistance of the SPbGU "St. Petersburg House of Nationalities" and with the support of supervision of the International Musical Festival "Palaces of St.Petersburg".
