Programme "Tolerance"
«The Program of harmonization of interethnic and intercultural attitudes, preventive maintenance of displays of xenofobia, strengthening of tolerance in St.-Petersburg for 2006-2010 » (brief name - the Program "Tolerance") was developed in 2006 in St.-Petersburg under the instruction of the Governor of St.-Petersburg V.I.Matvienko. It is the unique program of actions of the Government of St.-Petersburg on maintenance of peace in multinational community in the city.
The program "Tolerance" was developed by Committee for external relations of St.-Petersburg and Advisory comitee on affairs of national-cultural associations in the Government of St.-Petersburg. Official structures of the Government of St.-Petersburg and leading experts, who were traditionally carrying out researches in sphere of interethnic attitudes and formation of tolerance - sociologists, ethnographers, psychologists, teachers - were involved in working process and research.
Realization of the Program «Tolerance» invite sto dialogue and cooperation all constructive forces (institutions of local government, scientific, educational establishments and establishments of culture, public organizations and associations, and also each citizen), that are interested in creation of the strong civil world in St.-Petersburg.
The hot line is ogranised in the Committee for external relations communications of St.-Petersburg for everyone who is occupied with possible actions and measures in the field of preservation of a cultural variety and distribution of norms of tolerant behavior.
All offers concerning strengthening of tolerance in St.-Petersburg will be analyzed by Advisory council, created for maintenance of highly professional scientifical and methodical support of realization of the Program "Tolerance".
We believe, that realization of the Program "Tolerance" will promote the statement in a society of principles respect, tolerations and tolerances, which will improve the formation of high culture of a public life - the culture possessing strong immunity from any displays of enmity, national and religious break a set.
Recognition of ethnic and religious variety,
understanding and respect of the cultural features inherent in representatives
of different people and religions, in a combination to democratic values of a
civil society can promote strengthening of originally tolerant atmosphere of a
life of St.-Petersburg.
